An appeal by Unison against the legality of Employment Tribunal fees has been granted by the Supreme Court, who has ruled that the fees introduced in 2013 are unlawful.

Unison Appeal Permission Granted By Supreme Court
Employment Tribunal fees have caused controversy since their introduction in July 2013.
The union Unison have been one of the most vocal critics of the fees, and have taken legal action seeking abolishment of the fees.
Fees were introduced with the intention of deterring spurious claims but it Unison belief that the fees limit access to justice for many legitimate claimants.

Legislation Limiting Back-Dated Holiday Pay Claims Introduced
New employment legislation has been introduced by the government which will come into force from 8th January 2015.
The Deduction from Wages (Limitation) Regulations 2014 comes on the back of a recent Employment Appeal Tribunal ruling which stated that regular overtime should be taken into consideration when calculating an employee’s holiday pay.
